Sponsor and run an engagement
How to be a good sponsor once a team is on your project.
Once a professor claims your project and their students start, you are the sponsor. You are on the enhancing side, not the critical path: the project produces verified evidence for the students whether or not you stay involved to the very end. But the more present you are, the better the work.
Set the tone early
Expect an introductory message from the team. Reply promptly, and hold a short kickoff call to align on scope, deliverables, and how you will stay in touch. Fifteen minutes at the start saves hours later.
Stay lightly involved
- Answer questions when they come up; you are the expert on your own need.
- Give feedback at milestones, not just at the end, so the team can course-correct.
- Track the work from Engagements in your sidebar, where your live projects sit.
Tip
You are a mentor here, not a manager. Students are learning. Clear feedback and a bit of patience produces far better outcomes than a long list of demands.
