Set up a course and a project
Create the container your students' work lives in.
A project lives inside a course. Set up the course first, then add a project to it.
Create the course
- 1Choose New course in the sidebar.
- 2Drop in your syllabus: a PDF, a Word file, a text file or a photo. Practica reads it and fills in the course for you to check: the course details, what students see, the skills projects are matched on, and the weekly schedule. No syllabus? Choose Fill it in yourself.
- 3Check each part, change anything that is off, and create the course. You can change any of it later with Edit on the course page.
Add a project
The course page lists real projects that fit the course's skills, best fit first, with the skills each one shares with your class. Choose Add to your course on the one you want. A course with no skills shows no fits until you add them.
A project needs an outcome, a timeline, and milestones. You can shape one yourself, or start from a real organization need (see the next article). Either way, the outcome and milestones are what students deliver against and what eventually gets verified.
Tip
You can bring in a real organization as the sponsor now, or shape the project first and add a sponsor later. A project produces verified evidence for the student either way; a sponsor adds the second, outcome signature.
